Infertility

Infertility and fertility treatment that doesn’t work can be devastating. You may have poured time, money and hope into trying for a baby only to be left with another negative result.  You may be coming to the difficult realisation that you may not have the family you imagined.  This can leave you feeling lost, depressed, anxious and make you question how you can live a meaningful life going forward.

I’m a qualified and accredited therapist with over 15 years’ clinical experience in NHS Talking Therapies services and private practice, specialising in high-intensity CBT and Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) for infertility, pregnancy loss, grief and major life changes.

With a warm, non-judgemental approach, I offer a space where you don’t have to minimise what this has meant for you. Together, we can begin to process the losses, ease the self-blame and anxiety, and slowly make room for a future that feels more liveable – whatever shape it eventually takes.

Why you might be here

You might recognise yourself in some of these:

  • You have always wanted a family, but now for whatever reason it has not happened

  • You are feeling low, sad, empty or numb, and daily life has become a struggle

  • You feel intense grief for the child or children you imagined, and for the version of your life you expected to have.

  • You might feel anxious and uncertain about the future as you struggle to imagine what life will look like without children

  • You feel disconnected from your partner as years of trying for a family has taken its toll on your relationship

  • You may be single and have realised that starting a family may not be on the cards for you now due to your age — this can feel isolating, especially if many of your friends have settled down and had families.

  • Social situations may be difficult as you dread the next pregnancy announcement or the frequent discussions about children with friends who have families.

  • You are questioning your identity and sense of purpose as you try to navigate a life you did not expect.

How I can help

Therapy can offer a safe space where you don’t have to minimise or justify your feelings about infertility.  In sessions we might:

Explore what this experience has meant for you – emotionally, physically and relationally – and how it’s affecting your mood, identity, relationships and plans.

Process feelings of grief and loss-allowing for mixed feelings.

Challenge unhelpful thinking-including self-blame, harsh beliefs about your body or worth, catastrophic “all-or-nothing” views of the future, or constant “if only…” loops. T

Explore practical ways to get through difficult moments-such as handling pregnancy announcements, navigating social situations, or getting through anniversaries and key dates.

Work on improving your relationships-especially if you feel disconnected or there is ongoing conflict with someone close.

Move towards finding a new sense of identify and meaning, so that you can feel more hopeful about the future
